UX Engineer Contractor Position
Summary

Level of Experience: Senior
Pay: $75hr
Length of contract: One year
Location: Waltham, Ma
The position of Usability Engineer will be an integral member of our client’s User Experience group that focuses on Web and mobile solutions for commercial, non-profit and government clients.
Responsibilities
We are looking for a Web-savvy individual who can plan and execute usability techniques throughout the user experience project lifecycle for Web-based and mobile solutions. This Usability Engineer will be responsible for:
o Gathering, reviewing, and prioritizing project requirements in collaboration with business and technical teams
o Defining user needs, preferences, and behaviors through qualitative and quantitative research/analysis
o Documenting usability goals, recommendations and standards/guidelines at appropriate intervals in the project lifecycle
o Experience supporting real time visualization in a collaborative setting
o Designing and prototyping interactive user interfaces (typically in HTML or iRise )
o Conducting remote and onsite usability testing at various points in the design process (and post-launch)
o Collaborating with creative teams and Web developers to build the front-end interface
o Providing close attention to detail in quality reviews to ensure proper integration of the UI with back-end functionality
o Conducting usability (heuristic) evaluations and presenting results as a finished report and/or in PPT presentations
o Supporting sales teams and representing usability capabilities to potential or current clients
o Collaborating with the rest of the user experience group to expand, evolve and update techniques, work products and deliverables to reflect latest trends and best practices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the role of Usability Engineer will offer a unique blend of experience, skills and education, such as:
Experience
o 6-8 years in UI design (should include 4-5 years of Web-specific UI design)
o iRise 7.3 or 8.0 experience preferred
o HTML/CSS expertise required
o Dreamweaver MX experience preferred
o Creation of interaction design prototypes in multiple formats/media
o Familiar with latest usability testing tools/technology required
o Experience designing and testing for ADA/Section 508 compliance
o Seasoned facilitator of focus groups and user testing sessions
o Familiar with various techniques and best practices for qualitative and quantitative analysis
o Strong business writing skills (e.g., persuasive writing, analytical documentation and reports)
o Cross-industry exposure
o Exposure to global solutions with multilingual components
o Active member of associations

Web-savvy, analytical, detail oriented, strong presentation and writing skills, comfortable with fast-paced environment & deadline-oriented work.
Education
BS Human Factors Engineering or related field (e.g., Computer-Human Interaction, Cognitive Psychology)
Optional
o Experienced using iRise for interaction Design a big plus
o Has been published on UE topics
o Has presented as UE expert at industry conferences
o Multilingual
o UE Certification or other graduate level work
